My husband & I recently purchased a piece of property that had a 1950's Chambers Gas Stove in the kitchen. We are using this for rental property, so we removed the stove. I would love to keep it, but I do not have access to gas. This is a one owner stove, that was lovingly used for 56 years. The stove is in good condition. It is a little dirty, but not at all filthy. As far as I can tell, all the parts are there, except the pot that goes into the well. The chrome top on the burner is flattened a little, but it was a working stove until last month. What does something like this sell for? I was thinking E-bay, but not sure. We had an offer of $400 for it. Should we take that or look for a better offer? I would appreciate some help from all you experts.

If you are on LP gas, then this stove can be converted - just get the Owner's Manual for instructions on how to.
From what I've seen, $400 is a very fair price for a Chambers in Texas. Can you post a pic?

Here is a picture of the stove. I do not even have LP gas, so I can't convert it. I have other pictures, too.

I bought one in better shape than that last November for $300 cash.
If you spend about $700 and four months of hard work restoring it, it could be worth $3000-5000 on eBay, much more if the moon is full and the suckers (the kind that are born every minute) are biting.

The domed lid was in the oven. I was guessing that it went with it....guess not, huh!?! It also has a flat lid that was in place on top of the burners.

The heavy flat lid is what gown on the Thermowell...it is insulated so never put the lid in the water...the domed lid looks really cool but original it ain't.

If someone offered $400, that is a fair offer.
You do realize this stove weighs about 400 lbs. In case they ask you to help move. There are ways to lighten the load.

Yeah, I do realize that it weighs about 400 lbs. My husband & I have moved it out of the original house, down the two steps, into a trailer, into a barn, & back into the trailer....so far. It was definitely built to last. I'm growing attached to the baby. If I thought that I would have access to any kind of gas within the next 10 years, I'd keep it.

Take the 400 bucks. That's a reasonable offer for Rockwall. If your put it on Ebay, Ebay will get up to 25% of the selling price in fees, so you would have to ask about 600 in order to get the 400.
Couple of other things, if you are in the city limits, Rockwall must have a plan and estimated date to install natural gas. Go to city hall and ask for Robert in Planning and Zoning. He should be able to tell you something. Also, hows that rental going?.. I've got three Rentals in Rockwall and could give you some advice.
